Crucial buying guide

What's the difference between Crucial Pro and Crucial Pro OC DDR5?

Crucial Pro OC kits are rated for higher speeds and tighter timings (DDR5-6000 and DDR5-6400 here) through Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles that you switch on in BIOS. Standard Crucial Pro kits are rated at DDR5-5600. Check your motherboard and CPU's supported memory speed before choosing an OC kit.

Which Crucial SSD works in a PS5?

The PS5 takes an M.2 NVMe SSD on PCIe Gen4 or newer, and Sony recommends a heatsink. The Crucial P310 2TB with Heatsink listed here is sold as a PS5 upgrade, and the T500 is also offered with a heatsink.

Crucial T500, T705 or P510: which NVMe SSD?

The T500 is a PCIe Gen4 drive that suits any current M.2 NVMe slot. The T705 is Crucial's flagship PCIe Gen5 drive and the P510 its lower-cost PCIe Gen5 model. Gen5 speed needs a Gen5 M.2 slot; in a Gen4 slot either one runs at Gen4 speed.

Does Crucial laptop RAM fit a desktop?

No. Laptop memory is SO-DIMM (262-pin for DDR5) and desktop memory is the longer DIMM, and the two aren't interchangeable. The Crucial SO-DIMM kits here are for laptops and mini PCs; the Crucial Pro kits are desktop DIMMs.

Is Crucial RAM compatible with my motherboard?

Check three things: the memory generation your board takes (DDR5 and DDR4 aren't interchangeable), the module type (full-size desktop DIMMs or laptop SO-DIMMs), and the speed your board and CPU support. Crucial's free Advisor tool and System Scanner on crucial.com list compatible memory for your exact system, and the motherboard's QVL (qualified memory list) shows kits it has been tested with.

Which Crucial SSD should I put in a laptop?

Most recent laptops take an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD, so a bare (no-heatsink) Crucial T500 is the usual pick: a PCIe Gen4 drive that also works in Gen3 slots. The heatsink versions are too thick for most laptops, and few laptops have the PCIe Gen5 slot the T705 and P510 need for full speed.

How fast do Crucial orders ship, and what does shipping cost?

Orders ship from Canada within 1–2 business days with tracking and typically arrive in 2–8 business days. Standard shipping anywhere in Canada is free on orders of $99 or more, and a flat $14.90 below that.
