Used & Open-box buying guide

What does open box mean for an SSD or RAM?

An open-box part has had its retail packaging opened, usually a customer return or a display unit, and has seen little or no use. A used part has been installed and run in a system before. Each listing says which it is.

Are your used and open-box drives tested?

Yes. Every used and open-box unit is benchmarked before it is listed, and the listing states its condition.

Is an open-box or used SSD worth buying?

It can be, if the drive's health is good. SSD wear is measured against the endurance rating the manufacturer publishes (TBW, terabytes written); a drive that has written only a small share of it has most of its life left. Once it arrives, a free tool such as CrystalDiskInfo or Samsung Magician shows the drive's health and total data written.

What if a used or open-box part doesn't work?

Used and open-box parts are covered by the same 30-day return guarantee as new ones. If a part does not work out of the box, Devino covers return shipping and sends a replacement or a full refund; email support@devino.ca with your order number to start.
